LMSRs Return From Voyages
July 24, 2008 - 11:43amBoth G Class LMSRs return from voyages in support of Iraqi Freedom. The USNS Gilliland discharged in Charleston, SC before returning to its layberth in Newport News, VA. The USNS Gordon discharged cargo in Beaumont, TX before returning to its layberth in Newport News, VA. Both of the G Class LMSRs are scheduled to move to a new layberth in the fall.
Redelivery USNS HAYES
March 12, 2008 - 7:04pmOn February 28, 2008, 3PSC redelivered the USNS Hayes to the Military Sealift Command. After 37 years of service the USNS Hayes is scheduled to be stricken as a Navy ship and used as a part of a deep water artificial reef sometime after September 30, 2008. The ship will be processed at the Navy Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility in Philadelphia. For the remainder of FY08 the ship will be operated by another ship operator.
Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch
September 8, 2006 - 10:21pmUSNS HAYES, operated by 3PSC, has been selected to support the launch of the shuttle Atlantis. The HAYES will carry sophisticated equipment to help monitor the take off performance of Atlantis including providing information about fuel tank insulation performance.
Space Shuttle Discovery Launch
July 1, 2006 - 5:19pmUSNS HAYES, operated by 3PSC, has been selected to support the launch of the shuttle Discovery. The HAYES will carry sophisticated equipment to help monitor the take off performance of Discovery including providing information about fuel tank insulation performance.
Navy-Marine Corps Ball
May 6, 2006 - 5:18pm3PSC was, for the third year, a sponsor of the Navy-Marine Corps Ball. On May 6th, nearly 1,000 guests attended the 2006 Navy-Marine Corps Ball conducted at the Washington Hilton and Towers Hotel in Washington, D.C. The ball support the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. The 2006 ball raised a record-breaking charitable donation of $420,000.
